Chargers clinch Section 1 Championship with Nick Price no-hitter over Cornell

Senior NIck Price will have only played one year for OLSH Baseball after transferring following the closure of Quigley Catholic, but after his performance Monday night, Price will be remembered forever in OLSH history.

Price threw the 6th no-hitter in program history, and became just the 4th to do it by himself - allowing only two runners to reach base in a 15-0 win Monday night.

Price joins Nate Hart '19, Dylan Osheka '17, and Preston Falascino '13 as the elite company who have tossed no-no's for the purple and gold.

OLSH carried a 5-0 lead into the 6th inning before exploding for 10 runs. Senior LJ Evans was 3 for 4 scoring 3 times, Bobby Brazell and Mason Prevuznik both had 2 RBI. Chargers earned 14 of the 15 runs on 14 hits.

Senior Bobby Brazell had an impressive pitching performance as well in game one of the doubleheader, allowing just one hit and striking out 4 and earning the win in the 10-0 victory. Chargers used 6 hits to score those 10 runs, led by Senior Joe Graff who had 4 RBI with 2 singles that both tallied 2 runs.

The Chargers needed to win both games over rival Cornell to secure their spot on top of the section, and likely will join Rochester and Union with 8-2 records. With the Chargers earning big wins this season over 2A playoff team Beth-Center and posting a (10-5) overall record, and with two games vs. 2A Northgate to go, OLSH can make a strong case to be the top seeded team out of Section 1.

The team did not only recognize the class of 2021, but also the class of 2020 and the season that never was after it was canceled due to COVID-19. Jake Gartley, Jake Kocent, Gunner Conner, Peter Fabiano, Evan Kormick, Connor Stahl, and Mitch Maha all returned to Youthtowne on Monday night and were honored on the field prior to the 2021 seniors. Coach McCarren placed a 'S2020' on the teams hats this season, and has said that it will remain on the hats for years to come, remembering the men who had their senior year of baseball taken from them.
