The girls volleyball team faced top-ranked Avonworth last night at Moon High School. 

The JV match went all 3 sets, starting off well, winning set 1 by a score of 25-14. But then Avonworth came back to win the next 2 sets with scores of 25-15, and 25-11.  

The Varsity match was a whole different story, although Avonworth did start off strongly as they won the first set 25-12.  A lot of Avonworth fans thought it was going to be a quick night, but the Chargers had other ideas, as they hung in the second set until the end and snuck out a 25-23 set win.  With the match even at 1 set apiece, Avonworth again tried to impose their will over the Chargers and took set 3 with a 25-12 result.  But the Chargers did not throw in the towel and fought hard to take set 4 with a 25-20 score.  This set up a tense set 5, with both teams trading plays and points, but the Chargers took a lead at the end and finished off the Lady Lopes with a 15-11 result and a major win against a ranked section opponent!
