The OLSH Charger golf team is back on the course and already building momentum for the 2025 season. With a mix of returning leaders, promising newcomers, and plenty of preseason preparation, the Chargers are ready to compete.
Preseason kicked off August 4 with fundamentals, team building, and a few memorable moments — none bigger than freshman Aric Rigler's first career hole-in-one on the Pitch & Putt course's fifth hole. The opening week also featured a well-attended parent meeting and a special rules and "pace of play" session led by Coach Ron and guest PGA professional Bob Salera.
Over the next few days, the Chargers balanced technical work with fun competition. Days three and four included short game drills, long swing sessions at the RMU Dome, and a spirited putting challenge between "Team Airplane" (sophomores and juniors) and "Team Undecided" (seniors and freshmen). The bragging rights went to Team Airplane after a playoff win.
The preseason work quickly transitioned into match play on August 8, when OLSH faced Ellwood City in a non-conference contest at Del Mar Golf Course. Senior captain Jonah Schollaert led the way, tying for medalist honors with a 38 on the par-36 course. Matthew Prince (44), Nolan Meyer (48), Katie Suess (49), and Alex Krupp (58) rounded out the Chargers' scoring. While OLSH fell 237–201, the match provided valuable early-season experience and highlighted areas for growth.
With their first Section 4-AA matchup against Avella set for August 11, the Chargers are carrying forward the lessons and energy from their preseason. Led by their captains and guided by PGA professionals who have supported their training, the OLSH golf team is aiming to blend skill development with team chemistry — and to make every swing count this season.
