The Chargers Girls Volleyball team hit the road for a highly anticipated match-up against section rival Avonworth and delivered an exciting night of competition.
The evening began with the JV squad, who came out strong to win a hard-fought first set 27-25. Avonworth answered in set two, tieing he match with a 25-20 win. The third and deciding set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading leads throughout. In the end, Avonworth narrowly edged out the Chargers wining 17-15 and claiming the match.
Varsity action kicked off with momentum firmly in the Chargers' favor. The team served aggressively and built a commanding lead to take the opening set 25-13. Avonworth responded in set two with strong serving of their own, claiming it 25-17 to tie the match.
Set three was the most competitive on both sides, with extended rallies and tight scorelines. The Chargers maintained composure and secured the set 25-21. Avonworth wasn't done yet, battling back to dominate set four 25-16, forcing a decisive, winner take all, fifth set.
In the final set, the Chargers jumped out to an early lead before Avonworth rallied to tie the score at 8-8. But the Chargers showed grit down the stretch, capitalizing on a late run and a few Avonworth errors to pull ahead 13-10. With focus and execution, the Chargers closed out the final two points to claim the match victory.
