The lack of officials in high school sports has become a major issue throughout the country over the past several years. Younger officials are leaving the game at an alarming rate due to continued harassment from fans, and quality, well-trained people are harder to hire. A lack of officials can lead to cancellation of events, and makes rescheduling extremely difficult or nearly impossible.
Help us to maintain the integrity of the game by setting the standard for good sportsmanship.
We are proud of the success of our teams, and want to be sure that our public persona at sporting events is consistent with our values and excellence in education. As representatives of OLSH, we ask that you set the bar for fan behavior at each of our sporting events.
The behavior of fans in the stands affects not only officials, but players and coaches as well. Please lead by example and be a positive influence on other fans and students by respecting game officials, respecting the facilities, and respecting those around you.
Please take a few minutes to watch the following video, featuring sports officials and coaches from throughout the country, shining a light on the issues of fan and coach abuse of contest officials: https://vimeo.com/763511733/d7c55355ec?scrlybrkr=02ca336c
