The OLSH Chargers were successful in their comeback efforts in a key section game at Shenango. In the first quarter, it seemed as if it would be business as usual for the Chargers as they took a 10-8 lead into the second. However, the Wildcats looked to change that narrative as they took the floor. Shenango quickly went on a 16-4 run to take the lead by ten at 24-14. The Chargers stopped the bleeding somewhat but still faced a 27-20 deficit at halftime. The Chargers made a run at the start of the third, but Shenango would almost match it. The Chargers would only make up two points in the third causing them to be down 37-32 heading into the fourth. The fourth would see hard fought back and forth action, but the Chargers ultimately had the ball with the game tied at 44 with one minute left in the quarter. The Chargers ran the clock down to 15 seconds before missing a shot which led to a Shenango possession. The Chargers then got the ball back with 5 seconds left but missed a shot to win at the regulation buzzer. The game then went into overtime where the Chargers used the momentum they built up in the second half to win the four minute overtime period 13-8 and therefore won the game with a final score of 57-52. This was a good section win for the Chargers. The Chargers improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in section play. The Charges had four players with double digit points in the contest. Jake Johnson led the Chargers with 19 points. Tiernan McCullough had 12 points in the game. Austin Avsec and Vann Kavals also contributed 10 points each in the winning effort. Shenango was led by Joey Campoli who finished with 24 points for the Wildcats. The Chargers will look to keep stacking section victories when they take on Rochester on Friday. The game will be at Cornell High School with the tip at 7:30 PM.
