In a thrilling defensive battle, the OLSH Chargers overcame a 9-point halftime deficit to secure a 41-35 victory over Union in Wednesday's PIAA second-round playoff game.
The Chargers struggled in the first half, managing just 11 points as Union took a 20-11 lead into the break. However, OLSH came alive in the second half, scoring 30 points and mounting a strong defensive surge that effectively shut down the Scotties' offense, limiting them to single-digit totals in both the third and fourth quarters.
Sophomore Tiernan McCullough led the way with 13 points, while senior Lucca Grisafi added 11, and junior Austin Avsec chipped in 10. Junior Patrick Altmar stepped up under the basket in the absence of starter Vann.
With the win, OLSH advances to the PIAA quarterfinals, where they will face Sewickley Academy this Saturday.
