The Chargers visited Ambridge High School last night to take on the Bridgers in a section match. The Bridgers got off to a blazing start, jumping out to a big lead as the Chargers struggled with their serve recieve and were unable to mount any offensive scoring threat. Ambridge took set one with a score of 25-11. The Chargers rebounded in set two, as they stayed close to the Bridgers throughout the duration of the set. Ambridge took a 22-17 lead, but the Chargers battled back and were able to knot the score at 23. A Bridger error and a final kill by the Chargers allowed them to take set number two by the score of 25-23, and the match was tied at one set apiece! Ambridge again jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 25-12 victory in set 3, re-establishing themselves as the leader in the match with one set to play. The fourth set saw the lead grow no greater than 2 points between the teams at any time. But near the end of the set, Ambridge again showed their dominance and asserted themselves when they needed it to allow the Bridgers to finish the set with a 25-19 score and a final 3 sets to 1 victory over the Chargers. The jv also struggled on this night as they dropped their first match of the season to Ambridge's jv, 2 sets to zero. The boys will travel again on Thursday as they go to Beaver High School to take on the #5 ranked BCCS Eagles in a section match.
