For the past five years, the Chargers boys volleyball team had only made the playoffs twice, and both times they were defeated in the first round. That all changed last night, as the Chargers outlasted the South Park Eagles in a decisive 3-0 victory at home. The set scores were 25-15, 25-19, and 25-17, giving the Chargers a clean sweep of the Eagles.
Aiden Curry led the team with 32 assists, while Isaac Tarbuk recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Brady Rooney added 8 kills, Patrick Altmar contributed 7 kills and 4 blocks, and Ryan Bridge had 6 kills. Defensively, Marco Buzzard recorded 5 digs, and Mathias Lieb led the team in serve receive percentage for the night.
With this win, the Chargers have earned a spot in the quarterfinals, where they will travel to face the #1 seed and reigning WPIAL Champions, the Shaler Titans. The match is scheduled to start at 7 PM on Thursday. Congratulations to the team on a dominant performance, and good luck in the next round!
