For the second night in a row, the OLSH Chargers come away with a victory. This victory however, was a workmanlike effort by the Chargers over the Trojans, as they stayed the course throughout the night and never letting North Catholic gain any momentum. The night began with a competitive jv match which had the Chargers jv winning 2 sets to zero. Set one was well played by OLSH, as they jumped out to a big lead and never looked back, finishing with a score of 25-9. Set 2 was a different story however, as North Catholic made some changes and played a little better to challenge the Chargers jv, causing the set to go into extended time for the second night in a row. But the Chargers prevailed with a final score of 33-31 to take the jv match.
The varsity welcomed a talented North Catholic squad into the AAC, and were able to put in a very solid effort with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-19 to take the match 3-0. This included coming back from a 8-1 deficit in set 2 to win and keep the momentum going for the match.
Brock Saftner paced the offense with 35 assists and 9 digs,
Paul Belak had 3 blocks, 6 kills, 6 digs and 2 service aces,
Sig Saftner led the team in digs with 13,
Mike King added 2 aces and 3 digs,
Jeremy Ciaramella had 1 ace and 2 digs,
Ryan Parker had 2 kills,
Colin Wiegand added2 kills and a block,
Jake Horigan had 14 kills, 2 aces, and 6 digs, and
Andrew Schnarre led with 15 kills, and added 8 digs. This sets up the Chargers for tomorrow night as they travel to Trinity High School to take on the Hillers in an importanct section contest. The team is currently 7-2 overall and holding second place in the section and the number 4 ranking in the WPIAL.
