After putting themselves in a position to share a section title with their win over Ambridge on Tuesday, the Chargers welcomed the BCCS Eagles to the AAC on Wednesday night and the importance of the evening was evident in the final result. The Chargers controlled the match from the start, defeating the Eagles in three straight sets, giving them one more section challenge next week and a possible share of the section title with Ambridge. The individual set scores were 25-12, 25-17, and 25-17.
The stats for the night are as follows:
Paul Belak had 11 kills, 2 aces, and 8 digs.
Andrew Schnarre had9 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs and 1 block.
Jake Horigan had 5 kills, and 12 digs.
Colin Wiegand added 5 kills and 2 blocks.
Ryan Parker had 5 kills.
Brock Saftner had 3 kills, 30 assists, and 1 block.
Sig Saftner chipped in 8 digs, and
Jeremy Ciaramella and
Mike King each added an ace and a dig apiece. The boys varsity record is 8-1 in the section and 10-2 overall.
The Junior varsity went 3 sets with the Eagles jv (like they did earlier in the season at BCCS), but came out on the short end of the score, losing in three. The set scores were 25-22, 24-26, and 10-15. The jv match record is currently 9-3 overall.
The boys have a very heavy week next week, as they play at home vs Mars on Monday, away at Hopewell on Tuesday, and home again on Thursday vs Bishop Canevin (Senior Night). We then finish the week with our OLSH Invitational Tournament at the AAC on Saturday the 11th.
