Congratulations to both the JV and Varsity girls volleyball teams as they both benefited from their persistence and hard work, to defeat the Hopewell Vikings in a crucial section match at Hopewell last night! 

JV began the night with a 25-20 victory in set 1, but Hopewell showed their mettle and took set 2 with a score of 25-22, tying the match at one set apiece.  The deciding set  was all Chargers early as they took a commanding 10-6 lead, but Hopewell came back and made it tense until the finish. In the end, the Chargers prevailed with a final score of 15-12 to take the JV match.


The Varsity squad got off to a slow start, and assisted Hopewell with a number of our own errors. The girls started to gain some momentum at the end of the first set, but Hopewell won with a score of 25-19.  The girls played a little cleaner in set 2 and outlasted the Vikings to tie up the match with a 25-20 set 2 score.  After that, the Chargers settled down and were able to control the last 2 sets and take the match from the Vikings with matching 25-16 scores in sets 3 and 4. 

The Lady Chargers earned sole possession of 3rd place in the current section standings as the first half of the schedule is complete.  The girls will begin the 2nd half of the section schedule tonight as they travel to Central Valley for another big section match against the Warriors.  Good luck, ladies!
