The OLSH Baseball team continued its strong start to the season by sweeping a doubleheader against Brentwood on Thursday, with dominant wins of 5-0 and 12-3.
In game one, the Chargers showcased their pitching strength as Iseia Fields-Schulz and Nick Rippole combined for a one-hit shutout. Schulz earned the win on the mound, delivering an impressive performance over 5 1/3 innings with 14 strikeouts. Rippole came in to close, tossing a hitless 1 2/3 innings to seal the victory. At the plate, Sean Hudac led the offense with two doubles, while Thomas Medwig also contributed a double.
Game two saw an offensive explosion from OLSH, starting with a leadoff home run from Gino Williams. Williams had a standout game, going 4-for-4 with 6 RBI. Schulz added to the power surge with a home run and two doubles. Medwig continued his strong day at the plate with two more doubles, while Chad Minton and Hudac also each recorded a double. Medwig earned the win on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings of work.
With the sweep, the Chargers improve to 4-0 in section play. They currently sit in first place in their section and are ranked third in WPIAL Class 2A. OLSH will look to keep the momentum going in next week's section matchups against Apollo-Ridge.
