Both the JV and varsity volleyball teams came away with wins Wednesday night as they hosted Gateway at the AAC.
The JV squad handled business quickly, winning in straight sets 25-19 and 25-10 to start the evening on a strong note.
The varsity match was more of a battle. Gateway took the opening set 25-20, but the Chargers responded with a commanding 25-14 win in set two to even things up. The final two sets were closely contested, but the Chargers pulled through with scores of 25-20 and 25-19 to secure the match 3-1.
Offensively, the Chargers were led by Isaac Tarbuk with 13 kills, followed closely by Brady Rooney with 12 and Patrick Altmar with 9. Aiden Curry directed the offense with 33 assists, while Isaac Tarbuck also made a big impact from the service line, finishing with 7 aces.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 3-0 on the season. They return to action at home Thursday at 6 p.m. against Portersville Christian.
