The OLSH football team saw their season come to an end last Friday in heartbreak fashion. They lost to Mohawk in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs by a score of 17-14. They held fourth quarter leads of 6-0 and 14-7, but Mohawk kicked a buzzer-beating field goal to erase the deficit and eliminate the Chargers. Despite an unfortunate end to their season, the Chargers grew a lot throughout the year and are already looking to the future.
The Chargers finished the season with a record of 5-6 including the playoff loss. They started out just 1-3, being outscored 107 to 13 in the losses. Many teams, especially a young one, would have bowed their heads and just went through the motions for the rest of the season after that start. The Chargers were not like many teams. They finished the year 4-3 from that point. During the final seven games, the Chargers allowed more than 17 points only two times and held their opponents to single digits three times. They also won two of those games by a margin of ten points or less, showing they know how to win. The Chargers definitely had a different team take the field in their final game than in their first game. They will certainly miss their graduating seniors but the Chargers look to the future with a great amount of excitement.
