The OLSH Chargers opened up the 2025 football season against their long time rival the Rochester Rams on Friday night and dominated their way to a 27-0 victory.
The Chargers started the game out with multiple penalties and two punts but settled in after that. They utilized a three running back set for most of the game which was extremely effective.
In the second quarter, freshman running back
Jamire Samuels put the first points of the season on the board for the Chargers with an electric 42 yard touchdown run. On the following drive, running back
Prentice Organ found the end zone from 11 yards away to give the Chargers a 14-0 advantage at halftime.
To start the second half the Rams, who are traditionally very run heavy, tried to spark their offense with a pass but it was intercepted by senior defensive back
Talen Ellis. On the very next play, the third Chargers running back
Christian Bush, who later left the game with an injury, ran the ball 27 yards for a touchdown to make the score 20-0 Chargers. The final touchdown of the night went to
Jamire Samuels who finished the game with 101 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 7 carries.
Not only was the Chargers ground game excellent but the defense was nothing short of dominant. They did not allow Rochester to cross the 50 yard line a single time in the shut out. They also forced two takeaways which were both interceptions by
Talen Ellis.
Next week, the Chargers will take on a big test facing the reining 1A WPIAL champions the Fort Cherry Rangers. The game will be played this Friday at Moon Stadium at 7:00pm.
