The Cornell-OLSH-Eden Christian co-op swim team (under the banner of Cornell) is off to a competitive and encouraging start as both the girls' and boys' teams dive into their early-season schedule.
The girls' team has opened with an impressive 3-2 record, securing victories over Central Valley, Beaver, and Ellis. On Monday night, the team faced a challenging tri-meet against Quaker Valley and Upper St. Clair, where both the boys and girls ultimately fell short. Despite the losses, the meet provided valuable experience and showcased high-level competition that will serve the team well as the season progresses.
The boys' team has begun the year 1-3, highlighted by a solid win over Central Valley. The squad continues to show steady improvement and is closing in on several WPIAL relay qualifying cuts, signaling strong potential as they work toward championship season.
Individually, Grace Turko is already making waves, having secured MAC Championship qualifying times in the 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, and 200 IM. With several meets remaining before the Christmas break, the coaching staff is optimistic that many swimmers will continue dropping time and adding to the growing list of qualifiers.
The swim team return to action tomorrow Thursday night against Beaver Falls, where they hope to carry their momentum forward and continue striving for excellence in the pool!
