Cornell-OLSH-Eden Christian co-op swim team (under the banner of Cornell) put together an impressive stretch of performances across two meets this past week, highlighted by dominant relay swimming on the girls' side.
On Monday, the team hosted Brentwood in a key section match-up. The girls earned a team victory, while the boys came up short in a competitive meet. The girls' success was powered by outstanding relay depth, as they swept every relay event swum on the night — a critical factor in the overall win.
Individually, Grace Turko delivered a tremendous performance, winning all of her individual events and setting the tone throughout the meet. Moriah Kloss and Juliet Price also turned in strong performances. On the boys' side, Sam Bleakley recorded several strong swims, continuing his steady improvement as the season progresses.
The boys also competed over the weekend at the Thomas Jefferson Invitational, gaining valuable experience against strong competition. Sam Bleakley earned a MAC Championship qualifying time in the 100 Breaststroke, narrowly missing the cut in the 50 Freestyle as well. Relay performances were equally encouraging: The Boys 200 Medley Relay missed a WPIAL Championship qualifying time by just 1.37 seconds. The 400 Freestyle Relay also fell just short of the standard. Both relays are trending in the right direction and are well-positioned to qualify in upcoming meets.
Looking ahead, the team faces a bit match-up against West Allegheny next Tuesday, followed by the heart of the Section meet schedule. With continued health and consistency, both the Girls and Boys are strong contenders for the Section Titles, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the regular season.
