Cornell-OLSH-Eden Christian co-op swim team (under the banner of Cornell) faced a challenging stretch of competition with meets on Thursday, December 11th and Monday, December 15th.
On Thursday, both the boys and girls squads competed hard but ultimately came up short against a tough Beaver Falls team. Despite strong efforts, both squads came up short. Despite the losses, the meet provided valuable racing experience and set the stage for continued improvement.
The teams returned to action on Monday, against Hopewell and earned a split decision. The girls earned an impressive 74–56 victory, while the boys fell 55–87.With the victory, the girls improve to 4–3 overall and remain undefeated in Section competition at 1–0. The boys, who have yet to compete in a Section meet, now stand at 1–5 overall.
Several swimmers posted notable individual performances. Grace Turko achieved MAC Championship qualifying times in three events: the 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and the 100 Backstroke. In addition, multiple swimmers recorded personal best times, including Me in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, Sam in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, and Caleb in both the 50 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle.
Individually, several swimmers turned in standout performances. Gray achieved MAC Championship qualifying times in three events: the 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 100 Backstroke. Personal best swims were also recorded by Moriah Kloss in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, Sam Bleakley in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, and Caleb King in both the 50 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle.
On the relay side, the boys team (including Sam) is closing in on a WPIAL qualifying time, currently just two seconds away.
With consistent time drops and growing confidence, the team continues to build momentum as it prepares for upcoming Section and postseason competition.
