The Chargers kicked off their season with a tough 6-3 loss on the road to the 5A New Castle Hurricanes.
Senior Lilli Wamsley took the mound for the Chargers, delivering a solid performance with 2 strikeouts and a respectable 2.8 ERA.
Senior Ava Ciummo was a standout in center field, recording an impressive 7 outs.
At the plate, the freshman duo of Kaylee Seskey and Mya Eshenbaugh combined for 6 hits. Mya also drove in 2 RBIs and scored a run, showcasing the underclassmen's poise and skill.
Freshman Sophia Wasko came in as a relief pitcher for Wamsley and recorded 2 strikeouts.
Despite the loss, the Chargers gained valuable experience, displaying growth and resilience throughout the game. Shaking off the early-season rust, the team is already looking ahead to their next match-up.
The Chargers will return to their home field at Youthtowne on Monday to face Northgate for their home opener.
