The OLSH Softball team celebrated Senior Night in style on Thursday with a dominant 15-0 victory over Fort Cherry.
Before the game, the Chargers honored their two seniors — Ava Ciummo, who will be attending John Carroll University, and Olivia DiGiacomo, who will be attending Robert Morris University. Both seniors made major contributions to the win and were recognized for their leadership and impact on the program.
The Chargers came out swinging, putting up an explosive 11-run first inning. Offensive highlights included hits from DiGiacomo, Mya Eshenbaugh, Leann Walzer, Kaylee Seskey, and Sophia Wasko. DiGiacomo singled twice in the inning, collecting three RBIs overall, while Julia Pinter added a run-scoring double. A pair of Fort Cherry errors helped extend the early lead.
OLSH added two more runs in the second and finished strong with two in the third, including an RBI walk by Jordyn Velmire.
Camryn Hummel was lights-out in the circle, throwing a three-inning no-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate, the Chargers tallied 12 hits and showed great patience, drawing eight walks. Seskey, DiGiacomo, and Ciummo each had two hits, with DiGiacomo leading the team in RBIs.
The defense backed up the dominant performance with a clean game in the field, committing no errors. Neveah Morin led the way defensively with three chances.
