OLSH 41, Riverside 39

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart earned a hard-fought section victory Tuesday night, holding off Riverside 41–39.

Riverside jumped out quickly, taking a 12–7 lead and carrying a 16–11 advantage after the first quarter. Lola Garner scored seven points, while Sara Daeschner and Rowan Winter each added a basket for OLSH.

The Chargers answered in the second quarter with strong defensive play, limiting Riverside to two three-pointers while outscoring the Panthers 11–6. Leah Parker connected on two long treys and Macie Trombetta added two baskets leaving the score even at halftime.

OLSH came out fast to start the third quarter, opening up a six-point lead, but Riverside responded in the closing minutes of the period to regain control taking a one point lead going into the fourth quarter. It was Panthers 32 Chargers 31

OLSH opened the final quarter with a three-pointer by Lola Garner to take the lead, but Riverside countered by scoring the next four points to retake the lead. Macie Trombetta then swung momentum back to the Chargers, hitting a long trey from the corner followed by  steal for a layup, which she was fouled on. She went 1-2 from the foul line to give the Chargers a two-point advantage.

The Panthers answered with a three-pointer to briefly regain the lead, but Rowan Winter responded with a basket to put the Chargers back on top. Strong defensive pressure forced another Riverside turnover and the Chargers held the ball for 30 seconds when Leah Parker was fouled and went to the charity stripe. She made 1-2 giving the Chargers a 2 point lead. Riverside was unable to score in the final eight seconds and OLSH held on for the win.
