The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart cross country teams kicked off their season in impressive fashion on Friday, August 29, at the McKeesport P3R River Trail meet. Both the girls and boys teams delivered strong performances, earning OLSH the Cup for the best combined overall team at the meet.
The girls team dominated their race, claiming 1st place overall, while the boys team earned a 3rd place finish. Their combined efforts were enough to edge out Thomas Jefferson and secure the top overall team honors.
Seven girls medaled for OLSH. Freshman
Jules Goshen placed 3rd overall and ran 19:50. Sophomore
Eva Crofford placed 5th overall with a time of 20:23. Sophomore
Hannah Hayes ran 21:33 in her first cross country race placing 15th and she was followed by Senior
Charlotte Gauntner who finished 17th in 21:55 with a strong kick and Sophomore Miri Mosca who finished 18th in 21:58 to finish off the team scoring.
Junior
Lindsay Bressler placed 25th and also won a medal in 22:33 in the varsity race. The girls JV team placed first and it was lead by
Molly Gauntner who placed 2nd overall and medaled.
Three guys medaled for OLSH in the varsity race. The guys team was lead by Senior
Brayden Douglass who finished 2nd overall in 16:55. Brayden was 0.1 seconds from first place. Senior
Wesley Goshen placed 24th in 18:32 and Sophomore
Jeremy Ye was 25th in 18:38 and received the final medal for OLSH.
Sophomore
Andre Kolocouris placed 29th in 18:58 and
Leo Mosca Sophomore placed 38th to finish out the team scoring.
